I am afraid I have to report myself as a mild DYKWIA. I was in ATL E Skyclub Wednesday evening May 7th. My wife was waiting for my daughter who had gone for a smoke and as I hate waiting around too long for women, I went into the club. I checked in using my Skyclub membership card and took a seat.

10 minutes later my ife and daughter came in and I was going to guest them in(strictly speaking wife is a GM on an International itin so did not need it but daughter did). I walked up close to the desk with my laptop and said in quite aloud voice "It is OK they are with me". The attendant said "I am sorry sir, I have no idea who you are". Quick as a flash my wife replied "See honey not everyone knows who you are". I was not amused though I am now, so I replied "there is no need to take the piss".

I took out my membership card and the attendant said "Ahr yes I remember you now, The Brit" (I used my British Passport as ID). So we all got in but looking back I suppose it was slightly DYKWIA.

My wife on our last wedding anniversary card even put " I know who you are honey"

Why did you need to be involved? STE+ on an international itinerary still get access with one guest. Your wife could have accessed the SC herself with your daughter as her guest.

However, I agree that if it was ten minutes later and the same agent it's reasonable to expect them to recognize you, so I think it was reasonable of you to ask DYKWIA.

There are some people, particularly men in either business suit or casual polo and khakis, who seem to utterly lack features that make them look different than other guys who are dressed similarly. Call them pleasant looking in a forgettable way, and there are many careers where this is actually a very good thing.

My mother gave me a good one liner for such people.

"Please go ahead you are obviously so much more important than me."

She said that to some old bitty at the grocery store who did basically what you describe except it was shopping carts bumping while getting in the grocery store check out line.

That is not my understanding of the rules. Only full Skyclub members can guest people in was my understanding - not a GM on an Internation Itinerary.

Elite Plus Members are entitled to bring a guest in the lounge. From the SkyTeam website:

SkyTeam Elite Plus members are allowed to invite a guest, who is also traveling on a flight operated by a SkyTeam member airline, to join them in the lounge. The guest does not necessarily need to travel on the same flight as the SkyTeam Elite Plus member.

For future reference in case your wife and daughter travel without you.

Lounge Access—Complimentary access to most SkyTeam lounges worldwide when traveling internationally in any class of service. Simply present your same-day ticket for an international or connecting SkyTeam flight. You can even invite a guest to join you in the lounge

http://www.skyteam.com/en/Why-SkyTea...Access-Policy/

SkyTeam Elite Plus members, regardless of their travel class, are allowed access to a SkyTeam lounge at a particular airport if traveling on or connecting to/from a same-day international flight operated by a SkyTeam member airline. Simply present your same-day ticket for an international SkyTeam airline flight and a valid Elite Plus membership card.

In addition, SkyTeam Elite Plus members are allowed to invite a guest, who is also traveling on a flight operated by a SkyTeam member airline, to join them in the lounge. The guest does not necessarily need to travel on the same flight as the SkyTeam Elite Plus member.

Depends on how busy they were. If they checked in another 50-100 people in those 10 minutes, then I wouldn't expect them to remember each one.

If one agent is checking in 50 to 100 people in ten minutes they are at a rock concert, not a sky club. There is not a club out there that can handle that kind of traffic.

And if the agent was, the SC would be above capacity very fast.

Just spent about 5 minutes laughing my arse off at two guys fighting over the overhead bin. Idiot #1 was upset because idiot #2 moved his two jackets to a different bin, away from his two carry on bags. Mind you this was idiot #2's 3rd carry on in question. Two guys, 5 bags and two jackets in, the FA politely removed the jackets and the 3rd bag and advised them that they would have to actually put them under their seat. There was clapping involved.

Currently on board 721 from MSP to ATL which is unsurprisingly a medallion heavy route. Boarding for SP is announced and an orderly line is formed by all at the SP line. Halfway through boarding, 3 colleagues with IBM bags cut through to the general boarding line which is empty and, to my bemusem*nt, are allowed to board ahead of Medallion members in line. Surprised GA took no action. Heard one of the guys justify it by saying he's Diamond..

One guy behind me audibly said to his colleague 'IBM d*ckheads' in reference to their company laptop bags much to everyone's amuse me around us.

Also on the same flight, the FA announced the FC lavatory was broken so FC pax had to use the ones in the back. Met with applause in the back :D

DTW Gate A23 DYKWIA

Tuesday night, my flight into DTW was delayed because of weather. I had 8 minutes to make my connection and ran from C26 to A23. Plane was still at gate but door was closed and no GA. I waited for the GA and another gentleman appears. The GA opens the door and we ask her if she can put us on the flight. She says that it is our lucky day because they are waiting for bags. She tells me that she gave away my FC seat but can get me EC seat. While processing mine and the other guys BP's, approximately 15 people show up and want to catch this flight. She starts processing the first one in line. Another guy shows up and tries to cut in line. He starts telling people that he is Sky Priority and spent $$$$ last year on Delta. I ask him to go to the end of the line. He refuses. He asks me how much I spent on Delta and my status. I told him my MQD spend and my status. I then tell him that he can wait in line like everyone else. He storms off and tells everyone that he is going to the Sky Club. After he leaves, GA opens the door and allows us to board. The loudmouth missed the flight and it was the last flight of the day.

I'm glad the a-hole missed the flight. I can't believe any frequent flyer would be stupid enough to go to the skyclub when a flight has boarded and the GA is nice enough to get stranded passengers on that flight. Maybe he thought the SC agent would be able to get him a boarding pass

Yeah but do they have Gordon's at the gate? Didn't think so. :D

Why? That flight was a 757 which means 20-24 more people to share the coach lavs. That doesn't sound like something to applaud to me. Were they just jealous that they didn't pay for first or have high enough status to get upgraded? I'd be in the back on that flight too unless for some reason I was lucky enough to find a good FCM fare or lucky enough to fly a Y fare for work, but I don't begrudge those up front when I'm in the back.
