Pack your Hospital Bag like a #MOMBOSS

At 37 weeks you are now considered full term and baby can come at any time. If you have a scheduled c-section or induction, have your things ready the week before just in case the baby makes a surprise entrance. Since there is no magic way to know when baby is coming, it’s best to be prepared and have your things packed and ready to go based on your pregnancy.

My Ultimate Hospital Bag Checklist – Mom Serenity

First, you need a good bag. Here is a free PDF of this checklist so you can download and print it! When I had my first child, I packed ALL THE THINGS for the hospital.

That’s because just knowing I had brought those things along gave me peace of mind. But you know something, it didn’t really matter that I only used a small percentage of what I packed in my hospital bag. PLUS I had all those things in a bag for my postpartum days, and that turned out to be quite helpful.

Sharing is caring! A travel bag, like a duffle, will probably work well. Only a fraction.

Avoid backpacks — it’s just too hard to find things in them. So let me share my own personal Ultimate Hospital Bag Checklist with you! I hope this helps you prepare for your birth!

I love these from Kindred Bravely—they add just the touch of humor a delivery room needs! I’m packing a loose maxi dress because pants are not my friend right now anyway (nothing fits right or is comfortable) and I want something loose and easy for the ride home. This one provides a bit more coverage than just a tank top and robe, and has clip down cups for breastfeeding.

Woot Woot! This one is similar, however. Make sure they have grippies on the bottom so you can walk around without needing to change!

With my first delivery, I spent hours pouring over Pinterest to find out what should be in my hospital bag, and had them ready to go by like 36 weeks *just in case*.

Packing a Hospital Bag: Essential Checklist for Mom, Dad, and Baby

Even if you don’t use them at the hospital you will want some at home. Be sure to leave tags on most of your newborn clothing until you get baby home from the hospital. I would pack your significant other’s bag in a separate bag from you and baby.

Additionally you could bring slippers as well. I brought a nice piece of stationary and asked if she wouldn’t mind doing an extra print for my baby book. If you can’t pack them early, then add them to your last-minute hospital bag items.

Babies get cold easily so be sure to bring a hat and socks. If your baby is like mine, then you will be exchanging most of that clothing for a bigger size. Here are things you absolutely have to have.

Pro tip – get an extra long cord so you can still text your bestie about your new baby while it’s plugged in! Motherhood just got easier, friends. Between the three travel bags listed above, you’re bound to find a hospital bag for dad. Nothing is worst than getting ready to watch your favorite show and the device doesn’t turn on.

Headphones can come in handy if dad needs to take a phone call or if he wants to watch some of his favorite shows on his phone. If the hospital sends you home with the registration paperwork, be sure to fill it all out and stick it right in the hospital bag to ensure it’s not forgotten. They also had those paper-thin sheets and pillows to use.

That’s because they may find themselves in a position where they need to stop by the hospital vending machine for some snacks. Lastly, cellphones can be used to access helpful apps such as prenatal apps or breathing apps to help mom cope with labor pains while she’s progressing through labor.

Hospital Bag Checklist for Mom, Baby, & Dad (be prepared!) – Oh Yellow

Flip flops – The Mother/Baby rooms in our hospital had tiny tile showers that weren’t exactly luxurious. Then drink A TON after to prepare for breastfeeding. Now on to what to pack in hospital bag for baby.

You honestly don’t need just a ton for Baby, so it doesn’t need to be very big. I recommend planning an outfit that will work with the shoes you will wear to the hospital so you don’t have to bring extra. I loved having it to breastfeed while me and Baby got used to each other at the hospital, then later at home as Baby grew.

If it’s a carrier, you can leave the base locked into the car and strap Baby into the carrier before you leave your room. And once you reach a certain point, there’s no stopping to change clothes. Socks – Don’t forget to pack a couple pair of extra socks for recovery, especially if you prefer to sleep in socks.

I was so thankful that I had packed my fuzzy robe to keep me warm and cozy and I definitely recommend you get one too! If you end up being at the hospital for longer than a day, a laundry bag to keep your dirty clothes separate, and out of the way, is super handy. That is totally up to you – comfortable clothes, the hospital gown or a special delivery robe. While in the Hospital i was wearing the Hospital gown most of the time. So you can take the 20000 Photos of your beautiful baby.

If you did not have any sever complications you can. This is THE most important thing to bring to the Hospital. I just bought a small travel Kit like this.

Check with the hospital you want to give birth in what they allow you to bring. If you want to be extra comfy during your hospital stay – go ahead and pack that extra fluffy bathrobe for yourself. Nothing better than slipping out of bed to put on some comfy, cozy socks that will keep your feet warm on the trip to the toilet.

I started packing my hospital around 30 weeks already and then unpacked it and packed different things again.
