People always looked for gods in times of need.
It didn’t matter whether the god was the Great Jade Emperor or Buddha. The list went on—Odin, Shiva, Ahura Mazda, Allah, or even the ancestral god of one’s family. The god they usually believed in would come to mind first. They would pray for help attaining the things they wished for.
However, if that ‘god’ ended up in a crisis… Who would they look for then?

The rushing waves crashed roughly against the rocks. Monarch gradually dispersed the fog in his mind while listening to the sound.
‘Where am I?’
The unfamiliar scene before him made him squint. A gloomy gray sky, a river that flowed with black water, a dark beach, and an almost-collapsed ferry slip—he had never seen his surroundings before in his entire life.
‘Huh? I died, didn’t I?"
In truth, the word ‘annihilated’ would be more accurate. After all, the concept of death only applied to mortals.
‘My divine class, essence, faith, and rank… They’ve all been downgraded by force. My divinity has been severed, and my divine power has disappeared too. But… Why haven’t I gone mad?’
He had been trying to open his system window for some time.

Just as he was wondering about his next move, however he looked over to the river as out of nowhere, a boat appeared in the midst of the river and floated toward him.
The boat smoothly docked at the ferry slip. On it, there was a boatman wearing a straw hat and a middle-aged man wearing a fancy ceremonial suit.
“Monarch… Are you Naruto?” the middle-aged man called out.
At that moment, the eyes of Naruto sharpened. Naruto was his real name, which he had long since buried deep in his heart, after the Fourth Ninja war ended and his land was invaded by Divine beings called Rulers and Monarchs and launched his brutal war for revenge against them after accepting the power of the one called Ashborn. Centuries he had hunted them all down, going to world's and replicating powers he had seen to bolster his power before he completed his mission,
“Father, Namikaze Minato. Mother, Uzumaki Kushina. Born on October 10th, 1989, in the Village Hidden in the Leaves, on planet Earth in the Pure Sector.”
“In 2007, after you traveled to different worlds stealing abilities and interrupting the destinies of mortals you accomplished your vendetta and ended up on the planet ‘Arcadia’ for an unknown reason, and became a ‘star’ after a series of tribulations, you killed hundreds of deities in ‘that’ conflict. Just reading about it gives me goosebumps, fiend,” the middle-aged man said, shaking his head. However, there was no sign of terror on his face.
“Then, you got caught and were put on trial. Based on the records, I should be looking at the right person. Are you not going to answer…?” The middle-aged man paused, taking an unnecessarily deep breath in the middle of his sentence.
Naruto in the blink of an eye, reached for the man’s throat
The man quickly drew his sword and deflected Naruto's attack to one side. However, Naruto did not stop attacking. Like snakes darting forth to snatch prey, his hands continued unleashing a coordinated flurry of attacks.
Each of his blows was powerful enough to mutilate part of the man’s body.
After blocking Naruto’s attacks consecutively for some time, the man broke out into a cold sweat, leaping backward and landing on the surface of the river far away from Naruto.
The man looked perplexed, shaking his head in astonishment as he exclaimed, “Huh? What the…! Has your divine essence really been taken away? How can your attacks be this powerful even under the restraint of Divine Steel?”
Meanwhile, Naruto’s face crumpled. The moment he took a few steps to attack the man, a restraining device made of steel chains had appeared to subdue him.
Divine Steel shackles.
They were a restraining device capable of turning even a deity with supreme authority into a being less powerful than a mere mortal the moment it touched them.
They were also the device Naruto had worn during his divine trial. He had assumed the device was gone because he couldn’t see it anymore. However, it seemed he had been wearing it the whole time; it had just been invisible to the naked eye.
Due to the restriction, Naruto could no longer move. The only choice he had left was to glare at the suspicious people in front of him, asking, “Who are you?”
The man heaved a sigh of relief, then slowly bowed. He said, much more politely than before, “Sigh, if I knew things would turn out this way, I would have started with the self-introduction. I apologize. I am Yool, the top-rank reaper of the Underworld.”
Naruto squinted heavily and asked, “Underworld? Is this the land of the dead, then?”
“Correct. You are looking at the River Styx, and this man is Charon the Boatman.”
Pulling his hat over his eyes, the boatman nodded.
“I heard that a deity who underwent a divine trial couldn’t avoid being annihilated. What am I doing in the land of the dead?” Naruto asked uncaring
“Well, it is because you are under our jurisdiction,” Yool replied.
“Jurisdiction?” Naruto repeated.
“Yes. It is a bit of a complicated story… We can talk about the details while we walk. There is a man who brought you to this place by invitation,” Yool explained, smiling slightly.
Later
“You see, Arcadia is totally different from your Earth, the world you originally resided in.”!
Every time Charon rowed with all his might, the boat slid quickly down the River Styx.
Naruto listened to Yool, watching the water ripple gently across the bow of the boat as it moved through the water. It was hard to see through the opaque waters of the Styx. He asked, “Is it related to the jurisdiction thing you talked about?”
“Of course it is. People live and die according to the death lists—lists in which people’s lifespans and fates are written down. However, who could have known? The death lists can only be used in the places where they were written,” Yool responded.
“…”
“At some point, one of them managed to escape, vanishing without a trace.”
A beam of light shone before Naruto’s eyes, surrounded by the ripples of distorted space.
“If a single list goes missing, it causes a lot of trouble… We put in a lot of effort to find it. As it turns out, it ended up in a very strange place,” Yool explained.
“Was that Arcadia?” Naruto asked.
“Yes. It drove me crazy. I assumed the owner of that list would just live longer than an average human, but no one could ever have guessed you would become a deity like that!” Yool replied, bitterness evident on his face as he continued, “On top of that, you made too much of a mess there…To hush things up and bring you back, we had to pay a hefty price.”
“…”
Thus, he only became more curious about why they were looking for him. Though he wasn’t sure what kind of price they had paid, one thing was for sure—if they had revived him, there had to be something they wanted from him.
He asked, “Why did you go through all the trouble of bringing me here? It would have been better to let me be annihilated over there than to claim me like this.”
Yool shrugged and replied, “Who knows? I was just following orders.”
“Then who’s your boss, the one who made this decision?” Naruto asked.
“Shinigami,” Yool replied in a solemn tone. “He has had claim to your soul from the moment you were born due to an ancient pact with the Uzumaki clan."
“We have arrived,” Yool said.
Before anyone knew it, the boat had arrived at a ferry slip next to the river mouth. It was much bigger than the one they had departed from. Souls were lined up on it, leading all the way inside a grand palace.
“It would take at least 49 days if we headed that way. Follow me. We are going to take a different path,” Yool said.
Naruto followed after Yool and quickly bypassed the line.
The reapers in charge of the line saluted Yool simultaneously, and collapsed to a kneel in fealty to Naruto causing him to look at them but Yool ushered him on

After they passed the crowd, Yool used a skill Naruto recognized as Space Folding. Many places flickered into view and disappeared.
[This is the ‘Burning Hell’.]
[This is the ‘Freezing Hell’.]
[You have safely passed all of the Ten Hells in the land of the dead.]
A pit of fire with souls trapped inside appeared, followed by a forest densely filled with frozen trees.
Most of the souls trapped in the hells were ordinary, but there were some celestial beings among them as well.
“What is that?” Naruto asked.
“Oh, right. You were a fighting deity before you became a fiend. That must be why you are interested,” Yool replied.
“It just caught my eye,” Naruto said.
“They are the ‘fallen stars’,” Yool said.
“Fallen stars?” Naruto tilted his head in confusion.
‘Star’ usually referred to beings who shone brilliantly, and thus decorated the sky beautifully. Alas, they were very prideful. If they fell, they would generally choose annihilation rather than to remain in such a pitiful state.
“Judging the sins of the dead is not Shinigami-sama only job,” Yool explained.
“Then?” Naruto asked.
“We also seal demonic and evil deities who push the world into a crisis in the abyss,” Yool continued.
“Why haven't I heard about that before?”
“That’s understandable. It would ruin Heaven's image, so why would they blabber about it?” Yool replied.
“Hmm…” Naruto mused.
“Those people were sentenced to labor, either because their sins were considered light offenses or because they were almost finished serving their sentences. Of course, that labor would not be easy either,” Yool explained.
On some level, Naruto could grasp why Heaven stayed vigilant against the Underworld and tried to not talk about it. He could also guess what kind of deal the Underworld had made with Arcadia.
“Right this way,” Yool said as they finally arrived at their destination after their long walk.
Before them stood a towering castle that soared endlessly into the distance. They passed through its dark red gate, then crossed the main road where several officials busily came and went. In the innermost area, they reached the castle’s entrance.
“I, the top-rank reaper Yool, have brought Monarch safely to this place as you have ordered, sir.”
『Enter.』A deep, resonant voice rang out as the front gate opened, and a strong wind blew. Naruto’s expression stiffened reflexively as the wind swept over him.
Within the castle, Naruto saw a wise-looking man sitting on a grand throne.
“There he is. Its been a long time Naruto-kun, Child of Prophecy, Successor of Ashborn, usurper of Antares. ” said the Shinigami, a God of Death and King of the Underworld.
As Naruto revealed his desire to fight against the immense pressure on his shoulders to get him to kneel. Shinigami looked at him with a smirk. Shinigami's divine class was so high that he could compel most deities to kneel, and yet the man whose deity status had been revoked was still standing upright, "I'm sorry Naruto." Shinigami said causing Naruto to blink
"After completing your mission, a threat me and my family should've protected you from experiencing ended up throwing a stone in our plans for you." Shinigami said
"I fixed it."
"Yes, and trampled on those who got in the way. You grew exponentially in power but lost yourself to it. Through no fault of your own. The Shinto faction dropped the ball with you and that's why I've brought you here."
"To what end?"
"Your a king of Death, a direct subordinate of me through your clan and I have a job for you."
“...A job?” Naruto asked.
“Yes. There are some deities who are trying to manipulate humans, breaking the Oath in the process. I would like you to go to the Saha World and seal them on my behalf,” Shinigami explained.
At that moment, Naruto’s eyes sparkled. He asked, “Are you going to reincarnate me?”
“Yes,” Shinigami said as he lightly snapped his fingers.
The scenery around them changed, revealing the image of a universe filled with multiple clusters of stars. Beneath his feet, Naruto could see Earth, the blue planet he had long since left. He stared at it, mesmerized. It looked the same but the continents were different compared to his Earth.
“I’ll be sending you here,” Shinigami said placing a hand on Naruto's shoulder. “Like I told you, focus on sealing some deities on my behalf while using your powers for good. That’s the punishment I’ll be sentencing you to for losing yourself in the Death and destruction of your authorities in your pursuit for revenge,” Shinigami said, causing Naruto to frown, "You can't take Kurama with you."
Naruto frowned, "I will not leave him here."
"Kurama will be sent to a plane where he could live in peace to hunt, sleep, whatever he wants to with no outside influence. It's his greatest desire."
Naruto frowned he couldn't communicate with Kurama at the moment to hear his thoughts on the matter, "And I wasn't asking." Shinigami said before he snapped and Naruto groaned as Kurama was ripped out of the shiki fuin seal,
Naruto fell to his knees panting before he looked up as Shinigami opened the Gate of Reincarnation, "The divine shackles are removed but your powers will take a while to reawaken. You kill the deal is off." Shinigami said before Naruto was yanked inside before the gate slammed shut.
Earth, Hells Kitchen,, NYC
Naruto had a restart, he had been dragged, and was powerless and he had his father. His mother died in childbirth but his dad was still there, Naruto eyes joked the simplicity of this life,
Naruto sat on the fire escape overlooking in Hell's Kitchen, he was staying with his uncle, while his father and his new wife were on their honeymoon, his dad had given him the mission of convincing his uncle to move out of Hells Kitchen but his uncle was stubborn,

"You watch how you address a police officer, young lady, or I'll round the pack of you up." Liebowitz glared before he sighed, "Damn kids, why can't you all learn to behave like-"
On a skateboard a masked Naruto skated by snatching the nightstick on Libowitz waist, "Hey! Come back here@"
"Go!" The kids cheered as Libowitz chased after Naruto
"That's city property!" The cop yelled as Naruto laughed as the cop hunched over,
"Lose dome weight, fat boy!" Naruto yelled back as he skated away around a corner then a alley before he jumped from the skateboard and better than skilled acrobatics climbed the fire escape, and into his temporary room,
Chuckling Naruto removed his mask, and after dinner and calling his parents who didn't answer he decided to go to sleep.
Naruto’s uncle Yusuke was sitting in the living room looking at a photo of his ex, while he took long pulls from his beer, "Maggie…I'm sorry, Maggie…I'm."
Naruto sighed before he got out of bed and walked to his uncle turning off the lamp, "Come on oji,, let's get you to bed."
"Huh?...Right, Naruto. You're a good kid, Naruto. A good boy, God bless you." Naruto pulled Yusuke from the lazy boy and helped him walk to his room, "And I'm a sober and I'm sorry."
"It's all right."
A few days later Naruto and Yusuke got the news that Minato and Kushina died, so Naruto would be staying with Yusuke full time. It was a tough pill to swallow that he would lose his parents again, but Naruto had Yusuke to help him,
2 years later Yusuke was at the gym on his knees in the middle of the ring holding his torso, "Wise up, Yusuke. Wade doesn't get tired real easy and I'm afraid he's starting to enjoy himself."
"Khaff…let him."
"The fixers trying to do you a favor you dork. A regular job ain't so easy to come by, these days." Wade said
"I wont." Yusuke said
"You will. You'll work the neighborhood for me. Collect on bad debts or you will die."
"So kill me. I won't work for the mob."
"I wasn't finished, Yusuke. You will collect unpaid protection money or you will die and so will your nephew, you little Nayrudo."
Yusuke trembled in anger, as Naruto in the vents looked on
There are times when Namikaze Yusuke doesn't hate himself. Only in the ring, only in the heat of combat when his fists are sure and his legs are strong and he feels like himself again and he forgets the way he spends his days. Yusuke tossed the envelope on the table, as Fixer smoked, "Gonzales could only pay up half, Fixer."
"That's Mr. Fixer to you, Yusuke, and half ain't all of it, is it? Talk to him again, harder."
Yusuke turned and left going home, where he saw a 15 year old Naruto with a girl, spring away from each other having been kissing, "I got dinner."
"Thanks." Naruto said
"I should go."
"I'll walk you." Naruto said
Naruto looked at his uncle who gave him a thumbs up causing him to smile, walking the girl home Naruto began to head back, thinking to himself,
"I should help Yusuke, but how?" Naruto thought before he noticed a blind guy crossing the street as a careening truck accelerated toward him, and Naruto moved without hesitation and tackled the man out of the way as the truck crossed the street and slammed into a building,
Naruto shook his head getting up before he saw eyes open in his shadow as power flooded his body, and he knew that his normal human existence was over with,
Shaking his head Naruto stood up, and helped the blind man to his feet and across the street,
Naruto kept his powers to himself choosing to remain a kid but , 2 years later saw his last family ripped from him,
Yusuke ran keeping shape for his fight, when a car pulled up beside him, "You're pushing yourself to hard, Yusuke. You're not a young man anymore."
"An older Yusuke removed his hook and looked at his boss, "I haven't been doing do bad, fixer."
"Oh come now. Are you so thick that you think you earned those knockouts? Why do you think they call me The Fixer? You're a setup old man. I've made you flavor of the month in the boxing world, and you're going to make me a bundle of money when you throw tomorrow's fight. No arguments Yusuke, the usual threat apply."
Madison Square Garden, The Next Night
Yusuke sat in his corner, looking over and he saw Naruto cheering him on, "This is it, Yusuke. Just give him an opening and fall d9wn like you should. Think about that nephew of yours "

Robinson gave two jabs that Yusuke leaned back, stepping around the other before he punched Robinson in the jaw knocking him out,
Yusuke looked at Naruto who was cheering with his girlfriend Christina, and smiled as he was announced the winner while The Fixer and the men in his corner shook their heads in disappointment,
Later
17 year old Naruto, and Yusuke hugged, as Yusuke slipped a key into Naruto's jacket pocket, "I'm proud of you." Naruto said causing Yusuke to scoff,
"No, I'm proud of you. You remind me of your dad everyday."
"Thanks."
"Go hang with your friends. I'll see you later."
"Bet." Naruto nodded turning away before he began to leave,
"Naruto," Yusuke called, causing Naruto to look at him, "I love you."
"Love you too." Naruto smiled before he left, tonight was supposed to be the day Yusuke and the NYPD set up The Fixer and his operation, since he sealed his powers soon after getting them back, Naruto was sure he did the right thing,

Yusuke walked with the Fixer's goons to the docks, "Let's get it over with."

Wade tried to grab Naruto who dropped and kicked him in the knee shattering it, causing Wade to yell in shock, horror, and pain as bone pierced his skin,

As he went to work on Wade, The Fixer entered and his eyes widened seeing Naruto before Naruto stomped on his best enforcer, and they saw each other,
The Fixer scared stepped back and ran, before Naruto shot from the ring to the door and as he got outside he saw his next two targets The Fixer and Angelo running, but with a jump he cleared the distance landing on the car before he punched through the roof and grabbed the driver Angelo who swerved as Fixer began to shot at Naruto, the car jumped the curve before Naruto jumped off of it as it crashed into a tree,
Pulling Angelo out of the car Naruto saw Fixer running into the subway, before he proceeded to handicap Angelo as well and he rushed after Fixer who he saw was huddled in the corner, with a gun aimed at Naruto who removed his mask revealing his face causing the old man to look shocked as he clutched his chest and had difficulty keeping his arm up as he dropped the pistol and slumped to the floor with a sigh and breathes his last pathetic breath and Naruto was alone in the station, or so it seemed,
"You went too far." Batman said
"He died of a heart attack. The rest of his men are alive, and broken. I didn't go far enough." Naruto replied before he turned and began to leave,
"Wait. I can help you.." Batman said
"Help me with what?" Naruto asked
"Channel your anger, before it takes you to places you can't come back from." Batman said as Naruto frowned, he knew that he needed nothing from Batman, but he did need this body back in shape, the exercises he did were fine but he was still rusty,
"I have funeral plans to make." Naruto said continuing on his trek out of the station,
Batman sighed, he had promised Yusuke to get him out from under the Fixer to protect him and Naruto but he had been preoccupied with Joker and he failed.

Naruto sat on the torch of the statue looking at the city, after the funeral, he just wanted to be alone, "Your offer still stands?" Naruto asked as Batman stood beside the flame,
"Yes."
"I leave for College next month. If I don't like what you're teaching me then I'm out." Naruto said
"That's fair." Batman said
Naruto stood up and jumped down, "So when do we start?"
Batman turned as the Batwing uncloaked itself and he motioned Naruto to follow him which he did putting on a mask to hide his face and hair,
The Batwing shot off toward the Bat cave, as Naruto sighed, there would be no more sitting on the sidelines for him, he would have to get involved, and his shadow twitched ass eyes briefly opened.
